    At least two years of qualifying experience must include managing successful large scale, multi-disciplinary (network, virtualization, systems administration) projects involving virtual servers.

  • Overview

    IPKeys Technology is seeking a Virtual Platform Administrator to be part of a team supporting the Defense Logistics Agency and will be conducted in Tracy, CA.  The DLA Virtual Platform Administrators are responsible for managing all of DLA’s virtualized infrastructure, both on-premise and off-premise. The DLA on-premise infrastructure is comprised of VMware vSphere/vCenter environments running in the DLA East and West Enduring Datacenters (EDC), as well as other major DLA site locations or Installation Processing Nodes (IPN). The hardware, software, and applications running at these locations include VMware vCenter Server, which provides the central platform to manage the underlying VMware vSphere environments and infrastructure.

    Responsibilities

    • Manages and maintains complex software systems. Performs application software implementations and upgrades. 
    • Ensures high availability, security and integrity of assigned applications.
    • Monitors applications, including setting alerts to maintain the stability of the environment and application, monitoring error logs, and automating administration tasks wherever possible.  
    • Installs application patches and releases on development, test, pre-production, and production systems. Serves as key person in troubleshooting system problems. 
    • Creates and maintains accurate system documentation for assigned systems.
    • Maintains current descriptions and documentation of application and system configurations, including tracking and documenting any changes to environments.
    • Assists in capacity planning, performance monitoring and tuning on assigned systems. 
    • Participates in disaster recovery planning, including assisting with fault tolerance and disaster recovery plans. Analyzes performance trends to optimize application performance.

    • Sensitivity Level:  IT-I
    • IA Level:  IAT-II

    Computing Environment:  VMware VCP, VCAP, VCP5-DCV, VCDX5
