Overview

IPKeys Technologies is seeking a Functional Test Engineer to join our team at Ft. Meade.  Candidate will Perform analysis of documented user requirements and direct or assist in the design of test plans in support of the as-is and to-be network. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring that proper testing is conducted during the transition and implementation of NBIS (National Background Investigation System). Transforms test plans into test scripts and executes those scripts.  May participate in all phases of risk management assessment under the direction of a Senior Test Engineer.  Responsible for ensuring proper execution of test scripts and documentation of test results in test logs or defect tracking systems.  Responsible for ensuring that the test designs and documentation support all applicable client, agency or industry standards, time lines and budgets. Will conduct an Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) to ensure user requirements and system requirements are met. This will require the candidate to engage system owners, end-users, and engineers to properly validate metrics, test results, and behaviors of the system.

Responsibilities

  • The tester supports quality assurance programs and processes in alignment with QA strategy.
  • The tester is responsible for providing feedback on artifacts developed during requirements and analysis phase within client projects; authoring test cases; and performing test execution for both project and support related activities.
  • The testers will be primarily performing manual testing but may have an opportunity to participate in automated test development/execution
  • Work within various test methodologies such as waterfall or iterative
  • Create QA Task List in order to meet objectives and deadlines
  • Participate in Requirement & Design Doc review session; evaluate requirements & design docs from a quality test automation standpoint
  • Execute Test scripts to validate correct functionality of application
  • Manage test coverage based on risk analysis
  • Use SQL for back-end database validation
  • Document defects and evaluate priority of defect based on overall application functionality
  • Coordinate Test script reviews with stakeholders, as appropriate
  • Perform various types of testing including white box, integration, back-end DB validation, system testing, and end-to-end, as needed
  • Adhere to requirement review, defect writing & test script writing guidelines
  • Coordinate testing efforts between 3rd party testing team.
  • Keep Lead Tester informed of current state of quality and test progress
  • Ensure completion of all deliverables within schedule, budget, and quality constraints
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis sessions
  • Ensure that projects follow prescribed software development life cycle standards

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of test case creation and execution concepts and best practices
  • Experience performing test case management
  • Good understanding of regression testing concepts and best practices
